Exploring Cove Café On The Disney Fantasy
It is decidedly smaller and narrower than the main beach, but it is quiet and calm. There are sets of two lounge chairs and two upright chairs and plenty of umbrellas for shade. Lunch is served here too in case you don't want to travel back to the main part of the island. On the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy you can dine at Palo, and have the option to also dine at Remy. This adults-only French restaurant is a pricer upgrade than Palo. If you want an extravagant, elegant meal then Remy is a must.
Adult Pool Deck
Take a look on the walls and admire the incredible photos of Walt Disney himself on his travels and around Disneyland in California. The Disney Magic and Disney Wonder served as Disney Cruise Line's first ships and are therefore smaller than the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. To help eliminate some of your research, if you’re looking for the best ship for a Disney adults-only cruise I would recommend the Disney Wish or the Disney Wonder. Thankfully, any ship you sail on within the Disney fleet will have adult-only areas. But from what I’ve seen, the Crew Members are great about keeping the areas 18 years and up.
They do limit the number of passes that they sell, so I always make the spa one of my first places to go as soon as I get onboard. The Disney Wonder Rainforest is a limited-access area where you will find steam rooms, showers, and stone lounge chairs. The Senses Salon offers a wide variety of hairstyling options, as well as manicures and pedicures. The Cove Cafe Menu includes coffee, tea and adult beverages. Admittedly, sometimes, particularly on a Sea Day, you might find it difficult to find a space if you arrive at a peak time, but mostly there do seem to be enough places to sit.
For an additional fee, wine and champagne pairings are available for dinner, dessert, and brunch. My husband and I did the tasting menu with wine pairing, and it ran us $355 per person – that’s not a typo. I say it was worth it for a one-of-a-kind experience, but I probably wouldn’t book this experience again at that price point.
Unlike the Disney Dream and Fantasy which sail exclusively from Port Canaveral, the Disney Wonder has a number of different home ports. Sometimes there is an additional late-night performance which is for adults only. You can also see if there are spots still left when you board the ship. If you enjoy an adult beverage or two, you should really try one of the Beverage Tastings. The only exception to this is that you can book two dinners on your Cruise Personalizer if one dinner is for the first night. You don’t have to sacrifice your fitness routine when you are sailing on the Disney Wonder.
You do not need a reservation to go to the bar, which is open evenings and during the day on sea days. The Wish has The Rose, a delightful Beauty and the Beast-themed space with ocean views that sits at the entrance of Enchanté and Palo Steakhouse. There are a variety of steak, seafood, and pasta options, all more elevated than what you’ll find in the main dining room. Get ready for spectacular ocean views – I recommend dining at sunset. And you’ll have access to a sommelier and an extensive wine list with Italian wines.
The first thing people think of when they hear a Disney Cruise Line vacation is a bunch of little ones running around and screaming. And we won’t lie, there is a small percentage of that, but there are ways to tailor your cruise to be more adult Disney cruise friendly. Knowing where to stay and how to navigate the ship is a large part of making your cruise feel like an adult-only Disney cruise. I have been on multiple Disney Cruise Line vacations and have had successful relaxing and enjoyable sailing. These experiences exist so adults can have their own areas to relax because let's face it, the kids pool has a much different atmosphere than a pool reserved for just adults! The dining experiences, lounges, and entertainment will have a much different atmosphere since it's reserved for adults.
Another way to feel like a kid while still adulting is to be a Disney Adult and plan your Disney Cruise Line outfits, tumblers, and more before you're even on the ship. But otherwise, you have to look at the daily Navigator schedule to really find characters. There have been cruises I hardly see any characters at all. Only adults can appreciate the subtle Mickey Mouse shapes in the railings or the instrumental versions of Disney classics that play in the hallways. Or the beautiful tapestries created for some walls of Disney Wish.
